Description
Pick one person and invite them to be your low-pressure climate buddy for seven days. Agree on one or two small climate actions you each want to try and one simple check-in for the week. For example, halfway through the week, send a green heart emoji along with one small win and one next step.
After seven days, decide together whether to continue for another round, pause, or grow the group by inviting someone else.
Why it matters: It is easier to stick with change when you feel connected and supported. You have likely noticed that completing tasks can be more fun and rewarding when you do them with others. Relatedness is one of three basic psychological needs that support motivation and well-being. A friendly, optional check-in can add encouragement and accountability without creating pressure.
Tips
• Send a Simple Invite: “I am trying some small climate actions. Want to be climate buddies? If so, I can tell you more.”
• Pick Your Check-In: Use one emoji, a simple sentence, or a shared photo to celebrate progress.
• Keep It Positive: Share one win first, then one next step.
• Find Conversation Ideas: If you are unsure how to bring up the topic or want more structure, explore the “Log a climate win,” “Create a pocket story,” or “Talk about climate” actions.
• Create an Earth Hero Community: Invite your buddy so you can see your progress together. In the app, open the Community tab to create a group. Generate a shareable link, then send it to your buddy.
