Description
LEED, short for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the worldβs most widely used green building rating system. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED framework helps guide the creation of healthier, more efficient, and cost-saving buildings.
USGBC offers the Green Classroom Professional (GCP) certificate to educators and school staff working with pre-K through grade 12. Participants have one year to complete 12 self-guided, interactive modules, which take about two hours in total, followed by a quiz. Topics include green schools and classrooms, sustainable grounds and transportation, indoor environmental quality, and water efficiency and quality.
Potential benefits include supporting healthier learning environments, reducing energy and water use, lower operating costs, connecting environmental practices with classroom activities, and promoting sustainability among students.
The certificate also stays with you if you later change schools, while giving your current school an achievement to highlight. Visit the GCP certificate page to learn more.
