Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change solutions. CLL builds political will for climate solutions. As empowered citizens, they encourage talking with neighbors, friends, and local officials about how national climate action can help ensure a healthy future while strengthening the economy. In particular, CCL focuses on passing an Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act into law to create a carbon fee as a powerful tool to reduce pollution and reach net-zero emissions. A key part is that money collected from fossil fuel pollution is given as a dividend, or “carbon cash-back” payment, to all citizens. This protects low-and-middle-income people as society transitions to clean energy and transportation. In order to generate the political will necessary for the passage of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, they train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media, and their local community. There are more than 600 local chapters around the world. Citizen Climate Lobby drives a consistently respectful and nonpartisan approach to climate education that is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, they work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.
