Amigos da Terra Brasil is the Brazilian chapter of Friends of the Earth International. It's a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (Oscip) dedicated to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainability and social justice. The organization was founded in 1964 as a women’s organisation, Ação Democrática Feminina Gaúcha, with a strong democratic mission and joined Friends of the International in 1983. Their major campaign areas include climate and energy justice, social and indigenous justice, economic justice and resisting neoliberalism, reducing waste and waste management, water, food sovereignty, forests, and biodiversity.
