Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization that believes Indigenous Peoples’ rights and knowledge are critical to developing solutions to the climate crisis and achieving climate justice. ICA is guided by a diverse group of Indigenous knowledge keepers, water protectors, and land defenders from communities and regions across Canada. Their goal is to uplift Indigenous voices, sovereignty, and stewardship of the lands and waters for future generations. ICA offers climate leadership resources and training for Indigenous peoples, including youth, hosts Indigenous gatherings, holds webinars, and more. They focus on working with politicians for a just transition to renewables, racial and social justice, conflict resolution, and skill-sharing. This group is best for Indigenous people who want to take climate action within a supportive community, but anyone is welcome to join and support ICA in order to empower Indigenous people and communities in Canada. Get started by signing up for their email list and follow them on social media. You can also take a look at the current projects they are focusing on and ways to get involved.
