Project 90 by 2030

Project 90 by 2030 is a social and environmental justice non-profit organisation. They work to inspire and mobilise South African society towards a sustainably developed and equitable low-carbon future. They work with decision-makers to create policies that support climate justice. They also support environmental leadership in youth and an increase in civic participation to address climate change, energy poverty, and the social injustices that intersect in their communities. Their name, Project 90 by 2030, is premised on George Monbiot’s book “Heat,” which calls for a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2030, if we are to avoid “catastrophic effects on both humans and ecosystems.” Get started by following them on social media or signing up to become a mentor or volunteer.
