Sunrise is a youth-led movement advocating for political action on climate change. They focus on stopping climate change, creating millions of good-paying jobs in the process, and growing power by engaging within communities. They are building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority, end the influence of fossil fuel executives on politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. A key initiative is to advance the Green New Deal to mobilize every aspect of American society to 100 percent clean and renewable energy, guarantee living-wage jobs for anyone who needs one, and a just transition for both workers and front-line communities. You can sign up for one of their free online courses to learn more about the history of the Green New Deal, what organizing is all about, and how to get started. They also have Sunrise hubs to join with others nearby who are passionate about stopping climate change and fighting for justice. Sunrise is a youth-led, youth-centered movement. It is focused primarily on organizing young people aged 35 and younger. Older members are welcomed to support with fundraising, amplifying the message, and provide others resources and connections where possible.
