Hi, Earth Heroes! This is Colleen – I’m a volunteer with the Earth Hero funding team. We just launched the Tip Jar Campaign, and I wanted to tell you a bit about the campaign and why I’m so excited about it.
What is the Tip Jar Campaign? In the age of remote work, I spend a good amount of time in coffee shops (okay, a lot of time in coffee shops), and one thing I always see are fun tip jar competitions between “Batman vs. Spiderman” or “tourists vs. locals” or “Beyonce vs Taylor Swift” ….you get the idea.
I always thought the concept was kind of cute and realized it might be a great way to engage your guy’s thoughts on where you want Earth Hero to go as well as raise money to help us to, you know, actually help get us there.
How Does The Tip Jar Campaign Work? There are two projects in this campaign: Add 50 more actions vs. Launch a web app.
Donate an amount of your choice to the project you want to “win” the competition. By the end of the fundraiser, the project that has the most money will take the money from both projects and use it to complete the project goal. We want to make the campaign fun and accessible, which is why the idea is to donate one dollar to the project of your choice. Of course, if you want to donate more, you’re more than welcome to, but we want to make sure anyone who wants to participate can. Keep in mind that the more you donate, the more power you’re putting behind your vote.
What Are the Two Projects, Anyway?
_Add 50 Action Items: _If you’re like me, then chances are you’ve tapped out of all the Earth Hero actions. Researching which actions drive the most change, computing the actions to figure out how much impact it will create, and all other logistical hurdles takes a lot of time and a lot of money. The action items will sprawl a range of new projects related to pets, children, driving system changes, and other exciting ways to advance your climate journey.
Launch A Web App: Right now, Earth Hero users can only access the platform through the mobile app. And while most people do have a mobile phone, having a web app would allow Earth Hero to expand its reach, drive more climate impact, and lower global emissions.
